Gary Louis DeMaria

Age 55, born December 12, 1951 in Santa Rosa, California, passed away December 24, 2006. Gary graduated from Piner High and served two years in the United States Army. He was proud to be Airborne. Gary moved to Clearlake Oaks in 1973 to begin a 30 year employment as a Cable Splicer for Pacific Bell. In Lake County he met and married his wife Patty. The two enjoyed over 31 years of marriage and had three daughters. With Patty and many friends by his side, Gary enjoyed Harley Davidson rides to places near and far. If you needed a hole dug, tree trimmed or tail pipe polished, Gary was ready and excited to help. He was dependable and fun to be around. Gary had a unique ability to make light of any situation and held onto his wonderful sense of humor throughout his battle with cancer.

Gary was a loving husband and the very best dad and "papa" a child could ever ask for. His humor and love will be missed. Gary is survived by his daughters, Tina Ehrlich and Tiffany DeMaria of Clearlake Oaks and Angela (Eric) DeMaria-Souza of Lakeport, grandchildren, Anthony DeMaria, Candace Monize, Karlie Ehrlich, Alainna Souza and Gary DeMaria, brothers, Rick (Nancy) DeMaria, Dennis (Yolanda) DeMaria, Sister, Terri (Carmen) Simpson and parents Louie and Shirley DeMaria. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the DeMaria home (14246 Tomalee Lane, Clearlake Oaks).

Wow, the reunion seems like yesterday and we got to be see Gary there, I kinda was teasing him with my beret and trying to put in on his head when we were having our group picture taken, thank goodness he was able to make it there. I sure feel bad for their family, it will be a tough road to handle their grief.

About 15 years ago I was working in Lakeport redoing utilities for a certain project that doesn't matter now. I was talking to this phone guy. It came up that we were both from S.R. and that we were both Piner grads. I told him that my dad had a beer company and he said you must be steve. He told me His name and I laughed and re mined him how he had his smokes wrapped in his t-shirt sleeve and how he wore those pointed shoes and pegged pants.

Dead @ 55...Wow. We need to have another reunion soon. As I tell people, what made the last reunion great is that, unlike earlier ones, we were just happy to be alive(at least I was) so that we could be there to see the rest of us that were also still alive. No one should be dying at our age...but it happens. And while I intend to live for ever, or at least for a few more years...lets get together soon before some young kid whacks any of us with his/her hot rod or cancer gets us etc.. And here's to Gary and His family. And here's to our(Piner grads)family too.
